United Way prescription discount card saves $2 million across region

People who shop in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro area have saved more than $2 million dollars on prescriptions since United Way of the Midlands formed a partnership with FamilyWize in 2007. Members of the community who received their cards through the United Way have used them more than 98,000 times.

The free FamilyWize drug discount card has saved shoppers in Pottawattamie County $265,612, according to Kathy O’Hara, director of communications for United Way of the Midlands. It has also saved people $17,117 in Monona County, $8,011 in Harrison County, $1,855 in Mills County and $1,104 in Page County since 2007.
