FamilyWize's Free Prescription Discount Card Now Available to Alaskans Statewide

ANCHORAGE, AK—September21, 2017—FamilyWize announced today that their Free Prescription Discount Card is now availableto Alaskans statewide. Since 2005, FamilyWize has helped 32,030 people in the state of Alaska save $5,280,797 on their prescription medications. With the expanded reach, the card gives all Alaskans access to discounts on prescription drugs, allowing them to save an average of around 40 percent on their medications. The FamilyWize program is free, has no eligibility requirements,and gives families and individuals access to their medications at an affordable cost. With the FamilyWize Drug Price Look-up Tool, consumers can quickly identify local pharmacies with the lowest price for their medications. By showing their FamilyWize Prescription Discount Card to the pharmacist upon pick-up, consumers can then save on these medications. Smartphone users can also download the FamilyWize mobile app at the iOS App Store and Google Play.

FamilyWize is one of the longest running prescription savings programs in the country and is accepted at more than 60,000 pharmacies nationwide, covering all FDA-approved prescription medications.

Informational materials about the FamilyWize prescription savings program will be distributed at state health department offices across Alaska.In addition, residents can call United Way’s 2-1-1 helpline number to learn more. United Way and FamilyWize are strong nationwide partners, working together to build awareness of more affordable prescription medications via the FamilyWize program.

Alaskans also have access to the Medicine Cabinet, acost-effective tool on the FamilyWize website that gives users the ability to manage their prescriptions and save with one swift click of a button. With Medicine Cabinet, consumers can tailor their experience by saving prescriptions to their personalized Medicine Cabinet profile. The tool also allows for the addition or removal of prescriptions, changes in dosage, and preferred pharmacy location
